How to make dinosaur playdough
1. gather your supplies
Before you get started, gather up your playdough ingredients and supplies – this just makes the process of making homemade playdough much easier. If you’re involving your preschooler, I HIGHLY suggest it as their attention span is short as we all know 😉
2. mix the ingredients
To get started, whisk together the flour, salt, and cream of tartar in a large mixing bowl and then set aside.
Next, pour the water and vegetable oil into a saucepan and stir together.
Add the flour mixture and whisk until smooth.
3. cook the playdough
Once you’ve done that, place the pan on the stove over medium heat and stir continuously until a thick ball of dough forms and remove from heat. Allow 5 minutes to cool.
4. add color to your dinosaur playdough
Next, divide into 3 even pieces and add a few drops of food coloring in different colors to each piece.
Then, knead each piece to distribute the color and soften. For preschoolers, add to a plastic bag so there’s less mess from the color.
5. play and have fun
Now it’s time to play! Get out your other dinosaur playdough supplies and let kids play and have fun! The supplies can be purchased at local craft stores such as Michaels, Joanns, or Hobby Lobby.
The brown can be used for the land, grey for rocks and volcanoes, and the turquoise can be used for water! Sprinkle rock sand on top of the brown playdough for more texture and then lay glass pebbles down on the turquoise playdough for the water.
You can even add a fun story or dinosaur facts to this homemade playdough! I hope you have lots of fun!!
